Booklet for a discussion of award-winning African-American-themed children's books. I designed this 16-page booklet using artwork from the books themselves. The cover illustrations are from I, Too, Am America by Langston Hughes, illustrated by Bryan Collier (Simon & Schuster, 2013).
The first challenge was to bookmap the piece and figure out how to include everything needed within the space constraints. This booklet has been done in years past with with a different number of awards and required elements.
My goal was to make this year's booklet better than previous years', and I think it succeeded. The client said this was the nicest-looking one he'd ever worked on.
